WAT'S NEW! Well, a lot of creative things these days, despite being busy with moving into the new house, and getting stabilized at my job transfer. Not much drawing, I'm afraid, I'm getting a little burnt out on "cartoony furry" critters, and I can almost declare I've retired my poor old wacom tablet. No worries there, I feel better. The reason I wanted to stop drawing is because I find that the communities I hang around on, I visit too much, hoping and expecting things, both positive and negative, and I'm just getting tired of that. I feel like a pidgeon hopefully pecking on a disc for pats of praise, and that's not what I want anymore. Besides, hoping and fretting over feedback and whatnot is preventing me from expressing myself artistically too. Humbugz.
So, what I Have been doing has a lot of yarn involved. Lots of knitting, learning new techniques, etc. My secret want is to go out to one of those little knitmeets where I can chill with other people and talk shit while we knit. Might get me to finish the easy stuff without getting bored and throwing it back in the yarn pile. So, I've finished a few odd things here and there, almost finished a big chunky bag, and I made a washcloth, and a coaster (one of 4).
Bought myself a Kalimba, which will be the first musical instrument I've actually played in about 5 years. It's a small diatonic scale kids type, but despite my apprehensions, it sounds well and smells like heaven, being a cedar board. I will be buying another kalimba in the future, because I need more tines, more flats and sharps because music isn't all in diatonic perfect scale, however, I like that this sounds cheerful no matter what I play! I can play just about anything from ear (I've always had this skill), unless the notes are flats/sharps, then nah. Most humorous song playing was the Limbo Rock song. hahha. Maybe I'll record it for you.
As for painting, thank you to the person who advised me to advance further into this category of art. I've tried to sketch out an idea since I've moved here, but unfortunately, the muse is being a difficult little bitch. I'll be painting soon, I'm the most inspired by nature, and I bet as soon as I go out on an autumn hike after foliage turns, I'll have two or three exquisite things to transform on canvas.
( Kalimba )
So it's on. We're in the height of the August Nova Scotia Heatwave, and in all the stores everywhere, you can find Halloween goodies and crafts. Which brings us to the next point in my creativity: Time to knit a new scarf.
I already have a few on the go. One being my black/green striped scarf (which I regretted instantly.. should have figured out intarsia or some other color swapping method), which is in hibernation. But yeah, this new one is just a kick in the butt for me to learn something new; like how to make cables.
I think I stood in the craft store for a good 10 minutes staring at the pattern and then at the only package of cables on the shelf, and thought... how do i KNOW what sort of cables this uses? I have no idea, makes no sense to me.
So now, I have to do a lil research before i go too far.
Sorry, nothing new to show off lately. I'm living at 3 different places and everything is all everywhere, until I move into my new house. Phew.
After this I'm going to try adn TRY to finish something else in my knitting queue. Also, if you have ravelry, add me, and I'll <3 u.

What have I been working on...let's see... I have far too many hobbies and I have a lot of difficulty finishing anything I've started. I must confess, as of late, I've been terribly addicted to playing my DS, and now I found a game coming for the DSi and then I will be gone again, that is, if I have time for it after The Sims 3 comes out. And you can bet I'll be sucked into that, since I've been a Sims junkie since the very first generation.
But enough of that...
I've been drawing a lot of butterflies, or butterfly-themed stuff. I recently created a butterfly anthro named Stella and I'm in the process of coloring. It's liberating to experiment outside of felineage, and I apologize for being so narrow in my subject @_@ I have learned. I've been doodling another character a bit, a dalmatian gal.
I've been very intrigued by a few knitting patterns too. I am currently working on a tube cover to put my knitting needles in, and I tell ya, it's easy to knit a tube ...once you get the right size circulars. I learned expensive lessons in this.. 60cm is not gonna do anything for a 30cm project. lol. I started this project so I could learn circular knitting, in order to do this awesome lunchbox. And to practice the art of felting, I have to pick up some yarn to make this feltable knitting bag. It's pretty sweet, I'm pretty keen on the limegreen/turquoise movement right now.
I'm still hoping to score some bucks for the kalimba. Music is an old hobby for me too. Ever since I dreamt of having a violin again, i've wanted to play music.
But I apologize, I have nothing to show just yet. I might knit furiously tonight.

I feel suddenly very inclined to do some things with acrylic paint. I have this altoid tin. Nan always told me, "You would paint on all of your toys when you were a kid!" And i believed her, because I have seen pictures of me using those water paint cakes and a tiny yellow brush, painting on mickey mouse's face. I used to draw on the bottoms of my little pony feet.
Anyway, the altoid tin could easily be painted then sprayed or brushed with water based varathane. I could do this with many household hard things I throw in a bag. It's actually my knitting stuff tin.

Introducing a new tag. This tag is called Sketch Graveyard. In memory of my inactive/ironically dead LJ account
sketchgraveyard
Partial nudity. Images under cut. Lots of em
( Sketches that suffered a terminal fate )
2008 was a pretty fruitless year artistically. All the rest of the sketches were either TOO sketchy, or I hated them too much, or they were deeted, or they actually got finished and are on FA :3

Easy as pie.
I might have flubbed on the seed stitch at the *very* end but it being black makes it way easy to hide :D
How to make it:
cast on 30 stitches (big heads, maybe more)
5 rows of seed stitch
stockinette stitch about 10" (big heads, maybe more)
5 more rows of seed stitch
cast off
fold this rectangle over & stitch sides together.
Nyaaow.
Sister wants one next. I made this in a day pretty much.
- Mood:
amused

This is the scarf I made. It is 58" long. Made from Paton's Shetland Chunky Tweeds. Love the colors in it.
Sorry for the blur, I cannot take photos in the winter, in a house. I would have made it longer but I ran out of
yarn. :(
I had a picture of a handsome model wearing it, but he had pizza on his face :( So i might post later.
I'm currently working on "Lucky" which is a rectangular strip of stockinette and seed stitch black yarn. When finished, I fold it
over and it looks like a square. When ya wear it it looks like kitty cat ears :3 Dork :D I'm almost done the hat actually,
I will probably be finished this evening.
I really am entranced by the thought of knitting mittens & socks. But I must first learn to knit a round hat. I have a huge
queue of things I want to make.
Drawn:
- exchange pic for
simplyfurry
Sculpey:
- Lamb earrings
- Calf Earrings
- receptacles for my knitting needles/Crochet hooks
Knitting:
- Redo the scarf (again)
- Black cat hat
That's it for now. I'm busay..

For Christmas, i was asked by the inlaw to make a pair of ladybug earrings and a brooch/pin for her sister. It took forever for me to muster up the time to make em, but here they are:

On this pin, the ladybugs, I think, are actually quite close to actual size of a real ladybug! This one really caused a lot of squeals of delight & joy when people saw it.
They were fun to make. I forgot to make myself a pair of christmas earrings. But oh well, I will always have next year.

A little tiny something I made over the break for myself. It's a shrinkydink badge I made of my "fursona," Dii. C: Was fun to make, considering I never work on traditional art anymore. I plan to make more, possibly as con season comes around.

Hi everyone!
Please read the blurb on this LJ's front page for a better understanding of what you'll find here. I love art blogs where people do sketches of their characters in everyday life or what have you, so I thought I'd make my own.
There'll also be other artforms as well, just to shake things up.
I'd like to friend other users with artblogs on LJ, so if you add me and have one too, please leave a comment and let me know!
Love,
Dii
